Education of the arts is available at The Virtues Academy, a school of disciplines including classical dance techniques (classical ballet, Horton technique, Graham-based modern, Jazz, West African), martial arts forms (Southern Shaolin Kung Fu, Tai-chi Chuan), yogic healing arts (Hatha Vinyasa traditions as well as Forrest Yoga), meditation, pranayama as well as 1kv techniques (Neo-ballet, M-Lab, Sensual Fitness and Funk Jam).

1KV Techniques

ballet – an artistic dance form performed to music using precise and highly formalized set steps and gestures. “Classical” ballet, which originated in Renaissance Italy and established its present form during the 19th century, is characterized by light, graceful, fluid movements and the use of pointe shoes.

neo ballet fuses the basics of classical ballet with original styles created by chienhwe, founder of neo ballet academy. classes include floor barre, ballet basics, and movement styles across the floor to train for grace and fluidity as well as agility and earthiness on the floor to create a well rounded, well grounded ballet dancer.

m-lab [movement lab] uses structured improvisation, movement games and partnering exercises to build trust in one’s body as an instrument, games to explore, take risks and have fun and partnering to build connection and trust with other bodies. m-lab is a place to discover your unique expression in a safe and inspiring context.

sensual fitness is a class designed to unleash the sensual nature of movement in the body through divine feminine attunement movement meditations. For women, female bodies or those who identify as female to practice feminine embodiment through movement.

funk jam is a body conditioning, funk drill, dance party class. Funk and pop music accompaniment and permission to let loose and have fun are mandatory for attendance. A great workout and place where work and play meet harmoniously.

SPIRIT DOULA HEALING SESSIONS – Book a Session

Qi (“chee”) – A Chinese term for life force, breath, spirit.

Embodiment is practiced through work with Spirit Doula, a unique healing modality that uses intuitive healing with breathwork, meditation, guided imagery and movement/martial arts to promote healing, strengthening and integration of breath and spirit in body. The essence of Spirit Doula work is based on Qi (chee), a chinese term for breath, life force or spirit. Spirit Doula work births the spirit or Qi back into the body in order to prepare a foundation for further embodiment and expression.

forrest yoga is a yoga practice developed by Ana Forrest whose principles are breath, strength, integrity and spirit. Forrest Yoga is renowned as an intensely physical and internally focused practice that emphasizes how to carry a transformative experience off the mat and into daily life.
